Interpretation of small angle neutron scattering by copolymer solutions as a function of concentration

چکیده
2014 Using a generalization of the Random Phase Approximation (RPA) for a three-component system, the intensity scattered by a two-block copolymer has been calculated in the two special cases : a) the coherent scattering length of the solvent is identical to the coherent scattering length of one of the blocks, b) the difference between the average scattering length of the whole molecule and the solvent is zero. Expressions are explicitly given and discussed as a function of the concentration and the momentum transfert q assuming the solvent to be good for both sequences. Experimental results obtained by small angle neutron scattering on a two block copolymer PSH-PSD (hydrogenated and deuterated Polystyrene) in a mixture of hydrogenated and deuterated benzene show a good agreement between the theory and the experiments. Phase transition and aggregation behaviour of an UCST-type copolymer poly(acrylamide-co-acrylonitrile) in water: effect of acrylonitrile content, concentration in solution, copolymer chain length and presence of electrolyte.
An UCST-type copolymer of acrylamide (AAm) and acrylonitrile (AN) (poly(AAm-co-AN)) was prepared by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and its temperature-induced phase transition and aggregation behaviour studied by turbidimetry, static and dynamic light scattering, small angle neutron scattering (SANS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM) me...
متن کاملOrigin of the thermoreversible fcc-bcc transition in block copolymer solutions.
The thermoreversible fcc-bcc transition in concentrated block copolymer micellar solutions is shown to be driven by decreases in the aggregation number as the solvent penetrates the core, leading to a softer intermicelle potential. Small-angle neutron scattering measurements in a dilute solution are used to quantify the temperature-dependent micellar characteristics. The observed phase boundary...
متن کاملMyoglobin in crowded solutions: structure and diffusion
We present a neutron scattering study of the structure and diffusion of myoglobin solutions at high concentration. The protein–protein structure factor was determined by small angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements using mean spherical analysis (MSA), and the intermediate scattering function was measured by neutron spin-scho spectroscopy. We observe the cross-over between self-diffusion a...
متن کاملSelf-assembled Nanostructures in Copolymer Blends: Saxs, sans and Tem Study
Phenomena associated with the phase behaviour and self-assembled nanostructures of three block copolymer systems have been studied by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) and transmision electron microscopy (TEM). 1) System A-b-B/A (dPS-b-PMMA/PS homopolymer) were studied as a function of molecular weight and concentration of the added homopolymer. The para...
متن کاملSpontaneous formation of vesicles of diblock copolymer EO6BO11 in water: a SANS study.
Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) is used to study the structures formed in water by a diblock copolymer EO6BO11 (having 6 ethylene oxide, EO, and 11 butylene oxide, BO, units). The data show that polymer solutions over a broad concentration range (0.05-20 wt %) contain vesicular structures at room temperature. Interestingly, these vesicles could be formed without any external energy input,...
